Goldilocks Ride (May 12, 2012 - Herriman, UT)

Goldilocks was our first big, organized ride of the year!!

After riding in Wonder Woman, and Wish 100 last year, we realized how much we enjoy riding in all-women rides.  They are less competitive, the riders are more friendly, and we ride more in line with the average pace.

Annette signed up with us and her whole family came down to support us, cheer us on, and take pictures. The girls have all been riding with their parents and I think seeing so many women riders (1,500) was a bit inspiring and motivational for them to possibly join in next year!

We originally planned on riding 100 miles, but as it was our first ride, we opted for 60.  This way, we would still have enough energy to enjoy Mother's Day on Sunday.

We headed out at 9:00 am near Butterfield Canyon in Herriman.  We rode through the fun and quirky neighborhoods of Day Break, down into South Jordan and out Redwood Road - riding up the front side of the Camp Williams hill.  We continued on to Eagle Mountain for the lunch stop and met up with the Watsons.

After lunch, Carolyn got a flat coming down the Camp Williams Hill.  She wasn't surprised at all... she feels she is destined to get flats!!  The ride was a bit hilly - we climbed a total of 2,500 feet in the 62 miles we rode.  Much of the terrain was familiar to us from our Lehi Loop rides.

We Rode all the way into West Jordan and then back up through Day Break and over to Herriman to finish back where we started.  We collected our first-timers necklaces and enjoyed the ice cream treats provided.  It was a great first ride of the year and we are looking forward to the next one!

Holly's Birthday

For Holly's birthday we went to Park City on a SniqueAway to the Chateaux at Silver Lake.  Holly got to do her favorite things: shopping at the outlets, eating at the Loco Lizard, and dreaming of a ten million dollar mansion!  The best part was the beautifully decorated tree with thousands of tennis shoes hanging from it!!  Holly wants to decorate our house in this manner, but I believe it would be against city code!

Back at the Chateaux, Holly opened her birthday gifts.  Katherine Jenkins joined us, and just for your information, please vote for her on Monday nights at 1-800-868-3410 on Dancing with the Stars, or better known as #DWTS for you Twitter fans.  The picture below of all of the gifts signify the passions of Holly's life right now, gum, and more gum, and an iPhone.  A birthday to remember!
