Cross Country Skiing (February 19, 2012)

In an effort to find a winter-time activity (as we cannot bike in the snow), we have decided to give Cross Country Skiing a try.  We found a great deal on Cross Country Skis at REI, so we geared up and gave it a try... We headed up to Soldier Hollow near Midway, Utah and spent the afternoon, ah, falling down, skiing?  Not exactly sure what to call it?  We did achieve a few blissful moments where we looked like we were bowling (apparently that is the look to go for when cross country skiing) and glided serenely along the trails.

Soldier Hollow was an Olympic venue for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City.  We were told that many world class skiers make Soldier Hollow their training grounds.  So, obviously, not the best place to start out.  But hey, it sure was pretty!  And now we know exactly where to go when we improve!

It was a beautiful day up in Heber and Midway.  We haven't decided yet if we love cross country skiing, but we will surely give it another try!
After a day of skiing at Soldier Hollow.
While we were there, we spotted our new house...
Yes, the one we will soon win from HGTV!!  Don't worry, we will be sure to host a house-warming party after we win it and we will invite all our friends and loved ones!  It will have to be pot-luck as all of our expendable income will have to be saved to pay for the taxes and gas to commute an hour each way to work...
