We got the ’57 Chevy out of the garage and Lynn let us cruise around town. On the 4th, we got up early and watched the parade. The parade is always memorable because Rosella loves to go every year, and she always took her children to see the festivities each year. It is very nostalgic for Carolyn and she loves spending this time with her mother. After the parade, we took the ’57 and Lynn drove the Ford, and we raced down to the river where the booths and events were set up. We wandered around, bought popcorn, corn on the cob, and snow cones.
That night, we drove around looking for the perfect spot for fireworks. We found it, and waited. We were lucky to have arrived when we did, people poured into the city to see the fireworks. They were amazing. They lasted for about 45 minutes and every second was filled with so many fireworks, it could have been the “grand finale” of any other display. As soon as it ended, we headed out of town and back to Salt Lake City for work the next day. It was worth it! Even though we didn’t get home until 2:30 am! We kept ourselves awake by listening to the Hunger Games on tape. Great story!
